When the real T.E.A. Party started it was just a blip on the radar. It didn't take long for the Far Left to start with the lies and spinning of events into tall tales making mountains from mole hills. In so doing, they caught the attention of millions of Americans whom otherwise would never have noticed and in the process, brought support and endorsement of the core tnets of the T.E.A. Party to the attention of the Politicos in the process. This wasn't very surprising since both of the major political parties had esposused most of the same things in the recent past. From transparency in government which helped to win Obama his presidency to lower taxes on business which put Bush in office, the common ground was fertile for the movement to gain traction with the American people. Recent polls have shown the support is still strong and last years elections proved that the "flash in the pan" was much more than the Far Left gave them credit for.
To this day, the pundits still attack with lies and spin to try to minimalize the impact of these feloow Americans and in doing so are trying to cut their own collective throats. By not attacking the actual issues raised by the T.E.A. Party and attempting to tear them down with slurs and make them appear as idiots and racist, they are hurting their very own interests. It is in their interest to have the Patriot Act repealed since portions of it have been used to imprison homeless people and it is in their interest to have a more transparent government to stop the control of government through campaign contributions. It is also in their best interest to have a smaller Federal government and stronger state government which is more responsive to their desires because their state politicians cannot pass on the blame for ignoring of their demands to the rest of the nation. It is also their state politicians that pressure their senators and representatives with much more impact than the sole lonely voice of a few hundred constituents out of hundreds of thousands. Twenty citizens in a district office is easier to acheive than twenty people with funds to travel to Washington in the middle of a congressional session.
From what I've seen, the major political issue endorsed by the T.E.A. Party that the Far Left does and should oppose of the shared core tenets is the deregulation of businesses. Reaganomics is and always has been a dismal failure for those below middle management. If the Far Left were to practice the art of negotiation instead of smear tactics, it is quite possible that this plank could and w2ould be dropped from the T.E.A. Party platform in order for the additional support it would lend to their cause. The T.E.A. Party has an "open door" policy when it comes to membership which has been used to their detriment on more occasions than we need to mention, that allows for ANY dissident voice to join under their banner. It stems of course from their position of endorsing the Bill of Rights of which the first is Free Speech. Just as the racist trash used this as an excuse to step up to the pulpit and spew their hate, so too can the Far Left use the very same pulpit to endorse their agenda of helping the less fortunate and equality for all. With the current coverage of the movement on mainstream Media, the Left is missing out on a golden opportunity to make their voices heard. Failure to do so is only hurting their cause since most of the Nation would agree with them especially in these troubled economic times when everyone knows someone who is hurting financially.
It is time to put aside the Hate and work together to bring about the Change we've been promised by both sides for decades and have yet to realize. Here again is an Olive Branch being offered. It is only neccessary to accept it to form the greatest impact of the citizens voice this Nation has ever seen since its inception. It won't be nearly as much fun as ridiculing those with which we disagree; but it could be the saving grace of this Nation.
